Shoes, Hats and Jewellery
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000, (OH&S Act) school must ensure that students are not exposed to risks to their health and safety while on school premises. In order to ensure that students are safe it is expected that students wear black leather school shoes as part of their standard uniform. Black leather shoes are particularly important when working in Technology and Science due the the materials that the they handle and are exposed to. Similarly, students are encouraged to wear a school hat to protect themselves from the sun. Finally, students are discouraged from wearing jewellery such and chains or rings that may cause injury to themselves or others when they are working around machinery and involved in sporting activities.
