Creative arts

In Creative Arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of Drama, Music, Photography and Digital Media and Visual Arts.

Studying the Creative Arts, students learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform. Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Students must study 100 hours of both Music and Visual Arts during Years 7 to 10. They also have an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in other art forms through elective subjects including Drama, Photography and Digital Media. Students can then select from a range of courses in Years 11 to 12.

All students in Years 7 and 8 explore the creative arts through Drama, Music and Visual Arts courses which are part of the Stage 4 curriculum. Opportunities for students who want to further their studies in the creative and performing arts are available through our range of Stage 5 electives offered, including Drama, Music, Visual Arts, and Photography and Digital Media. In Years 11 and 12, students may choose to study Drama, Music 1, Music 2, Music Extension, Visual Arts, and Photography, Video and Digital Imaging.

Achievements are mirrored in many avenues. The creative and performing arts are thriving at Epping. The many talents of the boys are on display at the annual events: Drama Night, An Evening of Music and the Art Exhibition. Year 12 major works and performances have achieved HSC success with students nominated and selected for Onstage, Encore and ArtExpress.
