The Epping Boys High School Canteen is operated by a subcommittee of Epping Boys P&C. The purpose of the canteen is to provide an affordable, healthy food service for students. Volunteers' time, generously given, means that profits are available as P&C donations, to benefit our students.
Canteen Volunteers
The canteen operates 5 days per week during term time. The P&C employs the Canteen Manager, Ms Simone Ovens, and casual assistants, as necessary. Two parent volunteers are needed each day to help with service during the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10.20-10.40am Recess A; 13.20-14.00pm Lunch
Volunteers typically choose to be rostered once per week, once per month, once per term, or choose to be available on an on-call basis. Simone Ovens is the contact point for the roster.
Volunteers are not paid. Perks include lunch and refreshments and working in a well-equipped food preparation facility with a friendly team. Volunteering for canteen is a great way for parents to stay in touch with what is happening in the school. A Working With Children Check is requested but not mandatory. Please wear closed shoes and tie back long hair to meet food hygiene requirements. Aprons and food handling gloves are provided.

Management Committee
The Canteen subcommittee is comprised of parent volunteers and representatives of the school and the P&C. This continues the tradition from 1968 when a group of mothers took over the canteen service after a commercial provider pulled out.
Meetings are held once each term or on an ad-hoc basis, when necessary. An Annual General Meeting is held each March to elect officials and record the members list. Members of the subcommittee are members of the full P&C.
