The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global framework for non-formal education, which challenges young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world. Through developing transferable skills, increasing their fitness levels, cultivating a sense of adventure and volunteering in their community, the Award helps young people to find their purpose passion and place in the world to become #WORLDREADY.
The award continues to thrive at Epping Boys High School.
It is entirely voluntary and is structured so the participants can design their own unique program centred around their interests and passions.
The award is available to all young people aged between 14 and 25.
There are three levels to the award: Bronze, Silver and Gold
Break a sweat and improve your physical fitness. This could be through a team sport, individual pursuit or simply getting out there and working up a sweat. |

Unleash your talent and broaden your abilities. Anything from refereeing, to DJing, to learning a musical instrument, to jewellery making. The world is your oyster. |

Connect with your community and realise your passions. Any area of interest in the community, such as youth work, the environment or charity work. |

Discover your sense of adventure and bond with your mates. A journey into an unfamiliar environment with a group – bushwalking, canoeing, cycling – staying overnight and testing your resilience. |

Broaden your horizons and open your eyes to the world. In Australia or anywhere around the globe, limited only by your imagination. Live and work in a place of need – an orphanage, an environmental project, a village. |
Mr Leggo is the overall coordinator of the award at Epping Boys High School with the following staff working directly with participants as Award Leaders in each respective level:
- Mr Mere-Smith – Bronze
- Mr Bell – Silver
- Mr Hungerford – Gold
