Once again, the Epping Boys swim team has proven to be the strongest team in the Sydney North Region. On Tuesday 18th March, a team of 17 students competed at the regional carnival at Sydney Olympic Park. Spectacularly, for the second year in a row, we took out 1st place in the boys teams' point score! Additionally, after contesting only half of the events, Epping Boys placed 7th overall.
A massive 5 relay teams and 6 individuals medalled in various events. Congratulations to the following swimmers who will be progressing to the CHS carnival!
Anthony Otypka - 3rd in 100mBackstroke, 3rd 100m Butterfly, 3rd 100m Freestyle
Michael Matheson – 3rd 100m Breastroke
Tom Hope – 1st in 100m Breastroke, 3rd 100m Butterfly
Josh Jongma – 1st 100 m Breastroke, 3rd 100m Butterfly
Nathan Jose – 3rd 200m Freestyle
Bayley Lucas – 2nd 100m Butterfly
13's Relay – 2nd – Anthony Otypka, Michael Matheson, Liam Doherty, Jake Carr
15's Relay – 3rd – Sam Lucas, Houston Leng, Nick Glasson, Jack Edwards
17's+ Relay – 3rd – Josh Jongma, Coling Wang Andrew Yeung, Jackson Wang
Medley Relay 3rd – Josh Jongma, Andrew Yeung, Bayley Lucas, Nathan Jose
All Age 6x50m 1st – Aaron Goh, Anthony Otypka, Tom Hope, Jack Edwards, Bayley Lucas, Josh Jongma
A special mention must be made to Mrs. Cathy Hartley and Mr. Tony Nelson for ensuring everyone was on time and prepared. The team thanks you for the huge amount of time and effort that you have put into the team, beforehand and on the day. Thank you also to Cameron McDonald of Macquarie University Swimming, who ran a relay training session to prepare us for the day. Well done all and we look forward to success at the CHS carnival!
